Did it Again
Where’s that good advice I give everybody else and myself? Where’s that notebook that’s supposed to be by my bedside for late night inspiration? Just before hitting the sack last night, I had an excellent idea for today’s post. The thought briefly flashed through my mind that I’d probably forget it if I didn’t write it down. Nonsense! It’s such a great idea that I couldn’t possibly forget it. Isn’t that what they call famous last words? Well, at least I can post about the stupidity of (for the thousandth time) relying on my very defective memory.
I keep trying, but all I can come up with so far is that it was going to be the development of an analogy between writing and some else. If I ever come up with the “something else,” I’ll have it made. Instead, I’ll just bore everybody (all three of you) with a recital of my latest semi-accomplishments.
Two more articles published on Associated Content, and two more in the review queue. Now I have to get busy and come up with something new. The last one I submitted was just a rewrite of an old post (no longer in existnce on the web, so there won’t be any problem of duplication. I’m averaging $3.42 per article so far, down from what I got a year ago, but far better than some complaints I’ve been hearing about offers in the two dollar range.
Finally got around to signing up with DailyArticle, which is discussed every now and then on the AC forum. It’s still fairly new, and it doesn’t really seem to be making a whole lot of progress toward attracting content, but a few people have said that they do well there. It’s sort of a low-rent Constant Content, and will let me get my feet wet in the set your own price freelance realm. I know they don’t take as big a cut of your selling price as CC, but there’s no info about it on the site, and I can’t track down the actual rate in archived AC discussions, so that’s an unknown, for now.
I wrote up a quicky inspired by a Helium Marketplace request, and stuck a $15.00 price tag on it. I’ll knock out a few more, and see whether they attract buyers. The advantage of DA is that you can set your own price and theoretically make much more than on AC. The disadvantage is that it’s a one-time sale, for all rights. The extra money should make it worthwhile, and what doesn’t sell in a reasonable time (whatever that may turn out to be) can be removed and offered to AC.
